Cloud Computing for the NASA Atmospheric Sciences Data Center with Amazon Web Services

Abstract:

Given the recent surge in availability of cloud computing resources, the NASA Langley Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) ,in coordination with the Langley Office of the Chief Information Officer, is evaluating a business model and approach to utilize cloud computing provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) for science computing at Langley.  Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES) is an Earth Observing System satellite mission with multiple interdependent processing software units that execute at the ASDC and assimilate data from 13 space-based instruments to produce Earth Radiation Budget climate data records. This poster will discuss an approach to test a business interface with AWS using CERES science software use case scenarios.
