GPKG Mobile: A GeoPackage Implementation to Facilitate Geospatial Information Study

Characterized by features of standards-based, platform-independent, portable, self-describing, and compact, GeoPackage, a new open format for geospatial information container, makes it much easier to manipulate geospatial data on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. In this research, we present GPKG Mobile, a mobile platform based GeoPackage implementation of Common Map API on Google Maps and OpenLayers to facilitate geospatial information study. The mobile app provides a series of operations for users to manipulate geospatial information and GeoPackage data including: 1) accessing and manipulating Google Maps and OpenLayers at the same time; 2) inputting user's GeoPackage format data or sample data; 3) displaying and managing GeoPackage data on both Google Maps and OpenLayers; 4) performing all channels of Common Map API on both Google Maps and OpenLayers.
