Patrick Rowley

Biography:

Patrick Rowley is quickly becoming one of the leading experts in making weather and climate data accessible to the public, serving as project manager for the new EarthNow project at the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. EarthNow allows NOAA Science On a Sphere (SOS) exhibit institutions to go beyond the scientific facts to create meaningful visitor experiences about weather and climate connections. Prior to workingwith the EarthNow project, Patrick served as SphereMaster at Nauticus, a maritime science and industry museum in Norfolk, Virginia. As SphereMaster, he created and implemented earth science programming for the NOAA SOS exhibit, a six-foot diameter sphere showcasing earth science datasets, including real-time satellite imagery. Having developed a passion for working with spherical displays at the museum, the EarthNow project was the perfect opportunity to provide weather and climate data and stories to the entire NOAA SOS Collaborative Network. Patrick holds a B.S. in environmental geology from The College of William and Mary and an M.S. in Geosciences - Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
