Aggregation/Subsetting - What's it to you?

Abstract/Agenda:

Satellite and in-situ datasets collected over long periods of time are commonly stored in files with short durations (orbits, daily grids, etc.). This organization makes sense as the data are collected and for supporting use cases that require temporal snapshots over large regions (synoptic views). Unfortunately this organization makes it difficult to extract parameter time series from these data. This session will focus on understanding what increasing understanding of the various approaches that are used to address this aggregation/subsetting challenge. Because aggregation/subsetting can mean different things to different people, participants will be asked to talk about their aggregation needs and the solutions they would like to see.
