OpenDAP Developer's Meeting
A Developers Workshop—at Summer ESIP—on the Application/Evolution of DAP
During the upcoming ESIP Federation meeting, OpenDAP will hold a Developers Workshop (July 7-8). Presentations are welcome on the full range of DAP-related efforts, with special interest in how DAP and its applications are evolving. Topics likely will include cloud storage, asynchronous access, semantics, and extended server functions, and invited speakers on several of these will be announced soon.
Also, OPeNDAP and Unidata staff will offer a tutorial on DAP4 (which they developed jointly under a grant from NOAA), emphasizing how clients and servers may be updated to exploit its advances over DAP2. The tutorial will cover the basic protocol (as described on the “OPULS” project page) as well as some extensions, including asynchronous responses and (planned) new server functions, some going far beyond subset selection.
Please plan to attend and to share your own DAP-related work, whether your emphasis is on DAP clients or DAP servers. Previous workshops have reflected a rich array of interesting ideas, and our last Developers Meeting was seven years ago, so there should be plenty of new material! Ideas for sessions and/or abstracts for presentations should be submitted to [email protected] by May 15th, 2014. To simply attend the workshop, register for the ESIP meeting and check the appropriate box. We look forward to seeing you there!
