Developing a Plan for Re-architecting ESIP Websites - Part II: Technical Discussion
In 2016, ESIP plans to make changes to its websites and community workspaces, including esipfed.org, the Commons, Wiki and Testbed. In a previous brainstorming session, we will have outlined the ideal information architecture and user experience improvements the ESIP team and community are looking for.
In this session, we’ll talk implementation, weighing up the best architectural and technology choices to shepherd esipfed.org sites successfully into their next phase. We’ll briefly present the background to the ESIP sites’ journey, key challenges and future goals and priorities. Then we’ll dedicate most time to highly interactive discussion and brainstorming - sketching out and debating the pros and cons of possible architectures.
We’re open to novel and innovative approaches, so please attend if you have skills, experience or interest in setting up web tools for community building and communication across a range of platforms - including, but not limited to, Drupal and WordPress. All perspectives are welcome, from technologists to community organizers and authors. Case studies from similar organizations facing parallel challenges would be particularly valuable.
