Biography:
Ryan cut his scientific teeth experimenting with and modeling interesting dynamic systems while studying physics at Case Western in Cleveland, OH, notably working on projects dealing with sonoluminescence and DNA microarrays. His first pure software effort resulted in the design and construction of the AutoPermit hydrology software still in use by the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy to automatically analyze, model, and give endpoint predictions for entire mining operations and watershed impacts. He then built a cloud based GIS system and a REST based generic entity architecture for Locus Technologies, and currently writes R&D software at NOAA.
