The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) has developed the Group on Earth Observations System of Systems (GEOSS) Data Management Principles (DMP) to improve capabilities for members of the Earth science community to utilize Earth observations and related information. The GEOSS DMP describe capabilities for improving discoverability, accessibility, usability, preservation, and curation of Earth science data products and service. The associated DMP Implementation Guidelines (IG) offer opportunities for data producers, data repositories, and data users to improve their practices for creating, managing, and using Earth science data with recommendations and examples. The GEOSS DMP and IG are described along with examples for adopting the GEOSS DMP at a scientific data center.
