Computational Issues with Geologic Time

Abstract/Agenda:

Geological time presents many issues -challenges- for computing. This applies whether the dating is recent, e.g. Holocene, or older. From gaps, uncertainties and interpolation; to synthesis between the original attribute data and post-expedition age-models/datings; calculating paleocoordinates; age model versioning, Sadler-effect issues with data and modeling; and making effective visualizations. This breakout will offer attendees to voice their aspirations for computational tools in the subject of geological time. The collected results will feed into the Earthcube C4P - Cyberinfrastructure for Paleogeosciences - RCN.
