Serving High-Resolution Imagery With OnEarth Open Source Software

Abstract:

Using OnEarth, high-resolution global imagery can be made available to web clients, such as OpenLayers, Leaflet, or Google Earth, via popular web service protocols: WMTS, Tiled-WMS, and KML.  OnEarth is an open source software package that converts georeferenced PNG, JPEG, or GeoTIFF files into a highly efficient file format for speedy access to imagery using a typical Apache server configuration.  This poster describes the process by which a system engineer can utilize OnEarth to provide access to an archive of high-resolution imagery.
